Caleb Smathers is a technology driven entrepreneur with more than a decade of experience developing and commercializing advanced water and brine processing technologies. As Vice President of Technology & Pilot Systems at ALiBrX, Caleb leads the development and deployment of pilot systems and enabling technologies across brine-based mineral platforms. His role spans early-phase technology evaluation through lab validation and field deployment, guiding the company’s most innovative systems from concept to commercial readiness.

Caleb’s deep experience in startups – as a former Co-Founder and technology leader – spans the design, field testing, and deployment of cutting-edge separation systems, including novel water treatment technologies installed on offshore production facilities worldwide.

With a career rooted in scientific rigor and entrepreneurial execution, Caleb has overseen multimillion-dollar technology sales, directed laboratory and pilot plant operations, and spearheaded capital fundraising efforts.

He is a coauthor on multiple patents, peer-reviewed numerous publications and his work has been featured in leading industry journals such as Journal of Petroleum Technology, Hydrocarbon Engineering, and Water Technology Online. His work has established him and he is a recognized leader and innovator in produced water treatment, adsorption media systems, and sorbent regeneration technologies.

Prior to ALiBrX, Caleb held progressive roles as Product Portfolio Manager and Senior Product Development Engineer at ProSep. His contributions encompassed IP strategy and protection, sustainability reporting, technical sales enablement, project execution, collaborative industry initiatives, and end-to-end technology development.  Caleb’s technical expertise spans advanced water processing and separation technologies, commercialization strategy and IP development, Laboratory and pilot-scale system design, strategic partnerships, and technology evaluation.

At ALiBrX, Caleb continues to push boundaries where he applies his expertise in process separation, IP strategy, and commercialization. His leadership role bridges science, engineering, strategy, and scalable execution—driving innovation from laboratory to full commercial deployment and helping redefine what’s possible in brine mineral extraction.
